682 Accidental Toothpick Ingestion Causing Liver Abscess – a Case Report and Review of Literature

Abstract Introduction Perforation due to foreign body ingestion leading pyogenic liver abscess is an unusual but fatal event. We present a rare case of accidentally ingested toothpick that perforated the duodenum and migrated causing abscess. Case Presentation A 40-year-old gentleman presented with symptoms signs sepsis. He reported having eaten dry fish chicken bones 4 days prior presentation. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan revealed hepatic collection containing linear object in middle. Non-operative management improved patient’s general condition increase size lead operative management. Discussion Usual course formation ascending cholangitis or infections hematogenous spread. Such event perforating gastro-intestinal tract migrating rarely seen. ranges from mild abdominal pain full blown septicemia. Diagnosis challenging as patients may vague symptoms, sometimes don’t even remember indigestible object. trial conservative can be given stable who improve, deterioration necessitates surgical intervention. Conclusions Pyogenic intestinal perforation displacing seldom encountered, such very Patients improve clinically non-operative management; definitive lies removal body.
